Confluence is powerful but vague until you make it concrete. A checklist turns 'this looks good' into a countable, repeatable filter: a list of independent conditions you tally before every trade. It removes emotion, enforces patience, and — crucially — makes your trading measurable and improvable.
A sample checklist
- Trend — is the setup with the higher-timeframe trend? (structure, MA, cloud)
- Level — is price at a meaningful level? (S/R, Fib/golden pocket, value area)
- Momentum — does momentum agree or diverge supportively? (RSI/MACD)
- Volume — is there volume confirmation? (CVD, a spike, OBV)
- Trigger — is there a price-action signal? (engulfing, reclaim, break of structure)
- Risk — is there a clear, tight invalidation and a reward worth the risk?
How to use it
Score each setup. The more boxes checked, the higher the probability and the more size you might justify. Set a minimum (for example, 'I need at least four of six, including trend and level, and a defined risk') and pass on anything below it. The discipline is in the passing: a checklist is only useful if it stops you from taking the mediocre trades, which are what quietly drain accounts.
The honest framing
A checklist does not create an edge from nothing — it filters for the higher-probability subset of setups and keeps you consistent enough to actually measure whether you have an edge at all. Even a perfectly-stacked, six-of-six setup loses sometimes; that is what 'probability' means. The checklist's job is to make sure that over many trades you are consistently selecting the better ones and risking sensibly — which is the foundation the final two modules build on.
Bridge
You now have the complete analytical toolkit and a way to combine it. But analysis only finds the setups; it does not keep you solvent.
